STEPH WOODS

Stephanie Janene Woods was born in Pendleton, Indianapolis, to Angela and David Woods. Life often appearing an uphill battle, her father ran out on her and her mother when she was an infant, leaving just the two of them to fend for themselves. It hadn’t been easy but they had persevered and their relationship had strengthened as a consequence.

Steph opted for a career in Nursing and completed her bachelor’s degree followed by a traineeship in Chicago. Having a desire to help those in distress, she since worked as a trauma nurse in the emergency department in the downtown Chicago area before applying  for a transfer to Royal Alabama Hospital in Madison County, Alabama, to be closer to her mother, who had begun to suffer from dementia as she’d gotten older.

Her intelligence and sensitivity notwithstanding, Steph sees herself as something of a loner, having found it difficult to forge meaningful relationships over the years. A growing cynicism not something she’s proud of and yet unable to be dismissed, Steph yearns for a depth of connection she knows is possible.
